If you’re planning a trip to San Antonio to visit the Alamo then you’ve found the right place. Here you’ll find all the information you need to know on your next visit to the Alamo Shrine and Alamo Plaza. Business hours, admission information, tour info, and lots of other information are all available here. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a seasoned veteran here is where you can find some interesting Alamo visitor information.

Where Is the Alamo?

The Alamo is located at 300 Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio, Texas.  Map it!

Hours of Operation:

Open every day (except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)

  • Monday thru Saturday  9 AM to 5 PM
  • Sunday   10 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Open until 7 PM Fridays and Saturdays in June, July, and August

Admission to The Alamo is free, but donations are appreciated.

What is There to See and Do?

  • Visit the old church that has been transformed into a modern Shrine to the Alamo Defenders. Many artifacts from the famous battle or related to the Alamo Heroes are displayed here.
  • Stroll through the beautiful flower beds of the Alamo Gardens.
  • Learn about The Alamo’s 300 year history with the outdoor exhibit, The Wall of History
  • Visit the Long Barrack Museum and see a film about The Alamo specially produced by the History Channel. See exhibits that explain The Alamo’s evolution from mission to fortress.
  • Stop at the Alamo Gift Museum and see exhibits on Alamo and Texas history. Here you will find many books and other souvenirs for sale.
  • See cannons that were actually used in the Battle of the Alamo in the Cavalry Courtyard.

History talks are given every half hour except during lunchtime (12 PM to 1 PM).  Because of the volume of visitors to The Alamo each year guided walking tours are unavailable.
