"Sneak Peak" at Lemon's Illustrated Alamo

By Wade Dillon

As showcased earlier among fellow Alamo artist's, Mark Lemon's book "Illustrated Alamo 1836" is quickly picking up pace and will surely be a fascinating piece to have in any Alamo library come October of 2007. But while many of us who have awaited news of this project to surface, a drastic change of format for the book took place. As you can see from these wonderful teasers, the 1836 tour of the Alamo compound will be quite the eye candy for any buff or enthusiast.

The book will consist of 12 chapters, each covering a different part of the Alamo compound and will be fairly large, measuring in at about 11 x 17 inches. The first illustration in each chapter will begin in full color, followed by a sepia toned and black and white photo to give an old daguerreotype look. But, each photo will also be augmented by Lemon's wonderful artwork, a drawing of the same area as the photo.

As for where Lemon is at in the process of completing the book, he said that "I am about half-way finished, and will focus from here on out on the many interiors which still need to be done."

If you are an author in the process of writing a book pertained to the Alamo and it's history and would like it's development to be known, please, feel free to contact me within the messageboard and I'll feature the book in a news write-up.
