Uncovered: Alamo Sketch dated 1837!

By TheAlamoFilm.com

The June issue of The Alamo Journal (#137) was mailed to members of The Alamo Society during the last few days. Most international mailings were sent via air mail on Friday, June 17.

The issue's cover features the recently uncovered 1837 illustration of the Alamo, the first post-1836 battle image. An accompanying article, "George W. Fulton's Trip to San Antonio for the Texas General Land Office," written by Thomas R. Lindley, describes the illustration and the diary it was located in.

Other articles include:

  • "Sen. Sam Houston and Col. James Hazard Perry: A Valedictorian Speech and a Reverend's Retort" by Tim Niesen.
  • "The Second Reinforcement: A Re-appraisal of the Evidence" by Stuart Reid.
  • "Carter Burwell's Score for John Lee Hancock's The Alamo" by Richard Curilla.

There are also articles on the 2005 Alamo Society Symposium, the forthcoming "Texas Movies" exhibit at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum (which will feature an Alamo Movies memorabilia collection), and lots of "Alamo News."
