Jones' latest film "The 3 Burials of Melquiades Estrada" also employs cast members and crew from the 2004 "Alamo" movie. Julio Cedillo, who played Geneal Cos' Messenger in "Alamo", got his biggest break in Jone's film as Melquiades Estrada.
"The 3 Burials" film has received high praise and has also gone on to win the Cannes 2005 award for best actor (Jones) and best screenplay (Guillermo Arriaga).
The film's story is about a man who is shot and quickly buried in the high desert of West Texas. The body is found and reburied in Van Horn’s town cemetery. Pete Perkins, a local ranch foreman (TOMMY LEE JONES) then kidnaps a Border Patrolman and forces him to disinter the body. With his captive in tow and the body tied to a mule Pete undertakes a dangerous and quixotic journey into Mexico.
